    2018 Application Form for Funding

    The Foundation
The William J. Spence ICD Memorial Foundation is the humanitarian arm of the Canadian Section of the International College of Dentists. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, which is appointed by the Board of Regents of the Canadian Section. Funding for the Foundation is obtained from its benefactors, and from the annual charitable donations received from the Fellows of the Canadian Section. As a consequence, the financial amount of humanitarian support that the Foundation provides varies from year to year.

    The Purpose
The sole purpose of the Foundation is to provide financial assistance to projects whose goal is to achieve a demonstrable improvement in the oral health of a targeted population, either through the delivery of dental care and/or the provision of dental education. To comply with the humanitarian ideals of the Foundation, all projects requesting funding must be sponsored by a “not-for-profit” charity entity registered with the Charities Directorate of the Canada Revenue Agency

    The Support
Eligible projects may receive whole or partial funding which must only be used for the purchase of dental equipment and supplies.

    The Process
Applications for funding must be typed, include the CC&RA Registration Number of the sponsoring organization, and be received by the Registrar of the Canadian Section and the President of the Board of the Foundation on or before January 5th, 2018. Late or incomplete applications will be deferred to the competition in the following year. Following a critical review of each application, the Board of Directors of the W. J. Spence Memorial ICD Foundation recommends the level to which eligible projects should be fund-ed. An electronic distribution and approval of recommendations for funding will be done and approval for action by the ICD Canada Board of Regents by March 2018. The results of these deliberations will be communicated shortly thereafter to all applicants.
